This flower is from a cactus plant on my balcony. The flower starts blooming about an hour after sunset to it's eventual size of 7inches across.
The sad thing is that by morning it is shrivelled up. It produces an amazing sweet scent which I assume is used to attract night-time moths to pollinate it.
It was shot in total darkness using the 'Nightshot' IR feature on the Sony F717. It was then converted to b&w.
